How
to submit your results for Simulator005
About once
every two weeks (or less often), please do the following:
- Move
the results-file ('S005_RESULTS.txt') from the simulators
folder to any other folder (or subfolder). Rename it chronologically
so that you can distiguish it from results-files you produce
in the future.
- Zip the
results-file, especially if it is a big file. Occasionally
there are problems with the email-transmission of non-zipped
files, so to be on the safe side you may want to compress
the results with one of the many zip tools that exist on
the web.
- Prepare an empty
email to simulator005@evolution-at-home.net.
- Attach
the results-file to the email and send it away whenever
you want.
- Keep submitted
results files for some time, but do not move them back to
the simulators folder to avoid mixing submitted and non-submitted
results. (The simulator would append new results to the
already submitted file and you would resubmit the old results.
That
helps nobody, as duplicates are filtered out anyway and
you pay additional transmission costs. It would not increase
your high scores.)
To check,
whether your non-anonymous results have arrived savely, you
have to wait for the next update of high scores (see approximate
date of next update on homepage). Usually everything goes
fine, and you should see a corresponding change in your entry.
Problems:
- If
you do not know how to attach a file to an email, you may
copy and paste the contents of the results-file to the body
of the email.
- If your
results do not show up in the high scores after the next
update, your results have been identified as problematic,
because their signature could not be verified. If you did
not alter the files intentionally, your email program or
some server on the way had problems to deal with very long
lines of text.
In this case, please contact the administrator.
He will ask you to
- resubmit
the results file exactly as you pick it up from the
simulators folder.
- try
another email-software, if you have this option
- pack
the resultsfile in a standard archive (e.g. zip) to
save the exact format.
Once a working
way has been found, please continue to use it.
- Occasionally,
the administrator may contact you by email, if one of the
result-files you submitted had serious transmission problems
and your results were not anonymous. If you want to check
for problems yourself, please compare the number of simulations
listed in your high score account(s) with the number of
results in the result-files you submit.
Finally, don't forget to start the next run-file and
thank you for computing with us.
