This simulator helps uncover potential genetic causes of
extinction of endangered and not-yet-endangered species by
investigating Muller's ratchet. Your help to improve
understanding of such genomic decay might one day be used
to fight it. Nevertheless, access and use of this software
shall impose the following obligations and understandings:
1. You are allowed to use this executable for free as long
as you don't modify it.
You are granted the right, without
any fee or cost,
to use, copy and distribute this
software to all the
computers belonging to you. However,
you are not
allowed to modify, alter, enhance
or reverse engineer
this programm, as evolutionary-research
retains the
exclusive right to make new releases
of this simulator
or other simulators using any code
from this release.
2. Distribution: please download from the Internet to get
the latest version
Anybody may freely download this
simulator or subsequent
releases of this simulator from the
website of
evolutionary-research

. You may share the programm with
others, if you don't
modify it. However, if you recieved
this code from
any source other than the website
of evolutionary-research,
evolutionary-research can no longer
guarantee that you
get the latest release (or a release
not modified by
a third party). You are only allowed

programm publicly (CDs, websites,
softwarecollections...)
after obtaining the latest release
and written permission

3. Results computed belong to you until you share them.
The results you compute on your machines
belong to
you alone until you submit the results
to evolutionary-
research. If you do that evolutionary-research
is
free to use, analyze, publish or
not publish the data
submitted in the results file. (The
email-address you
use to submit the data remains as
private as possible.)
However, submitted data still belongs
to you and you
may use, analyze, publish or not
publish it as long as
evolutionary-research is generally
allowed to do the
same. You may check http://www.evolutionary-research.net
to see results and summaries published
by evolutionary-
research. If you publish results
calculated with this
code, check http://www.evolutionary-research.net
for
the appropriate reference to cite
the source of this
code. As long as result-submission
is by email, watch
out that you do not submit the same
results many times.
They are filtered out anyway. So
please do not forget
to remove the results.S005.txt file
after submitting it.
You may start a new group- or personal
account at any
time by submitting a result containing
the corresponding
data. However, you agree that your
results are anonymized,
if someone else had opened an account
with identical
names before you. If you personalize
your results,
you agree that evolutionary- research
stores and
publishes the corresponding information.
You may submit
your results under a name/group that
others have chosen
before, if they gave you their NameCheckPINs.
You are then
obligated to promote an URL that
this other person agrees
to. However, you carry the full responsability,
if you
share your NameCheckPINs with someone
who would misuse
them. If you use the wrong ID, you
agree that your
results are anonymized. By
specifying a website or
other contact information, you guarantee
that neither
is illegal, pornographic, otherwise
immoral or against
the rights or the will of a third
party concerned. If
there are any complaints about this,
you agree that the
corresponding information will be
no longer published and
results may be anonymized.
4. No support, except what you find at the website.
Please understand, that evolutionary-research
is not
obligated to provide you with any
explanations on what
the simulations you compute actually
mean. Besides that,
evolutionary-research is not obligated
to provide you
with any support, consulting, training
or assistance of
any kind with regard to the use,
operation and performance
of this software nor to provide you
with any updates,
revisions, new releases or bug fixes.
You might, however
find at http://www.evolutionary-
research.net, what you
are looking for. If you did not find
it there you may
send an email and ask, although no
answer can be guaranteed.
5. DO NOT misuse the reporting capabilities to fill your harddisk!
WARNING: If you misuse the life reporting
capabilities
of this simulator, you can generate
so much output that
your harddisk will be completely
filled. This can be
a problem for your computer system
in general. However,
this will not happen, if you have
a few Megabytes space
on your disk, use default settings
and do not process
excessively long run-files. If you
get problems because you
discard this warning, then evolutionary-research
will have
no whatsoever responsability to correct
the damage.
6. DO NOT place foreign files in the simulators directory,
else they may be deleted!
WARNING: The simulator assumes that
he has his directory
all for himself. Thus he writes files
to that folder
and he deletes / changes such files.
This is part of the
overall system. If you move a file
to that folder that
has a name that is special to the
simulator, then he
assumes that it belongs to him and
can be changed /
deleted. Such automatic files can
have names like "run",
"run.txt", "eProgress.txt",
"break.txt",
"IntermediateResult", "RemoveResultsAfterEmailing.txt",
"Licence.txt", "position_in_run_file.txt",
"minimal_log_file.txt",
"S005_Preferences.txt" and
others. If you move any non-simulator-file
to a
simulators folder and the data in
it is lost because
you started the simulator, then evolutionary-research
will have no whatsoever responsability
to correct the
damage.
7. No warranty
