Frequently
asked questions about Simulator005
For general
questions about simulators look here,
for other questions here.
What
do I do if I have problems attaching the results file to an
email?
Some
email programs under Windows have problems attaching a file
with two dots in the name. If that is the case, just remove
the dot between results and S005 and thus submit the file
resultsS005.txt. With the advent of release 5 this problem
is solved, as results are saved under the name S005_RESULTS.txt.
How
do I stop the simulator without loosing results?
As
the simulator saves an intermediate results file every hour
(by default, you can change that in the preferences) the maximal
amount of work lost, is the last hour. If you want to complete
the current simulation, however, you must not terminate the
program by force. You may stop it by moving an (empty) file
with the name break.txt to the simulators folder. This will
be recognized; the file is renamed and the simulator stops to
allow you to choose several options on the console. CPU usage
goes to 0%. If you then choose "Continue normally"
(=option 1) the simulation continues at exactly the same position
where it had stopped. If you choose to stop after finnishing
the current simulation, then the program stops without loosing
any result, as the current simulation will be stopped normally
and no other one from the run file will be started. However,
if the current simulation is complex, this may need a lot of
time.
